Start With What Scares You

start with what scares you (Dana Eikenberg blog)

Writing has been something that has frightened me for most of my adult life.

My father was an excellent writer. My sister is a brilliant writer. They have always encouraged me, but I would rather stand in front of hundreds than put it on paper.

Now at 46, it is time for me to face my fears and just write.

The Thing That Scares You Is What You Need to Do

Sentence structure, punctuation, grammatical mistakes, and common spelling errors gave me the fits. I will admit to a few meltdowns while attempting to pen something brilliant, but truthfully, who really cared?  No one ever said, “Dana, that was the worst letter,” or “Dana, that was a grotesque use of the English language in your note.”

So, why worry?

I’ve told myself to keep it simple –as I’ve always tried to do.

Write like I speak, which may need slight editing at times.

It is my goal that this brief blog assists in my improvement and can create conversations in regards to the random subjects I write about.

I am anxious to share my stories, experiences, and ideas in hopes that they could be helpful to 1 or 2 of the people who read Here’s what I’m thinking…

Thanks for traveling on this road with me. I may be scared, but it’s helpful to know you’re right there, too.

We love it when you share!
