Hi! I’m Dana Eikenberg, and welcome to my personal blog.
This is a little like a sandbox for me. I’m playing, learning, trying out new skills of sharing my ideas and perspectives more broadly.
It’s inevitable that I’ll make a mistake or two–and I write the way I speak, so my grammar isn’t always English 101 perfect. But I hope you’ll stick around with me and see where this goes.
It’s an interesting time for me right now. After spending all of my adult life either playing or coaching Division I level basketball, I’m revisiting what’s most important to me and have found that the work I’d been doing was no longer it.
But what is? That’s the question. I am grateful for all the skills I’ve built as a high-performance professional basketball coach. Today’s coach does so much more than just work with players. In my roles, I’ve:
- Sourced new talent,
- Developed and executed recruiting processes,
- Negotiated deals with outside vendors and internal colleagues,
- Managed and developed budgets,
- Hired (and fired) staff,
- Designed and led deep research on competitors and donors,
- Built significant, long-term relationships with parents, donors and alumni,
- Collaborated with marketing, PR, and other functions, plus
- Served as a community leader, invited speak at local schools and other organizations.
To do all of those diverse things, you have to be a great verbal communicator, be able to think strategically while still executing consistently, to be organized and clear with your colleagues and staff, and to operate with a clear sense of values so that others know what to expect from you.
In this phase of my journey, I’m looking for the people and places where I can bring those skills forward and where I can make a difference that matters. It may look different in different organizations, so the best way to see how I can serve you is to start a conversation.
I’d be honored to talk to you. Get in touch by emailing DLE2020@yahoo.com.

Thanks for playing in the sandbox with me!
